Indigenous Australia, 2015
The Indigenous Australia installation was exhibited in the Great Court at the British Museum. Using the Museum’s Enduring Civilisation Exhibition as inspiration a group of tutors worked collaboratively to come up with a concept and idea for the piece. The community groups learnt different techniques including weaving, knitting, block printing, batik, applique and stitch, to make pieces that were assembled and installed by the tutors on totems that reference Aboriginal burial poles.
