Making in Isolation, Together, 2020

Making in Isolation, Together was conceived as a result of the Covid-19 crisis and the resulting isolation. A group of Ilford women over 65 were invited to join the project to learn new skills and to socialise remotely from their home. All participants were sent out a package that included the outline for the project, materials and instructions. I led weekly discussion groups via a phone in conference call to provide workshop support and to explore the experiences of being in isolation. All participants sent me their textiles and I stitched them together into a collaborative quilt. The project was funded by Age UK in collaboration with SPACE.
